Maldives participates at INDABA 2010 fair

Male’, 28 January 2010; Maldives Tourism Promotion Board together with tourism industry participated at the INDABA fair which was held in Durban, South Africa from 8 – 11 May 2010.

At the end of the 3rd day a total of 13,856 visitors had passed through INDABA’s turnstiles. As issued in the Organiser’s press release, ten percent more exhibiting companies had attended INDABA this year which they say is a clear indication of bullishness and buoyancy in the industry.

According to the organisers “This is an excellent achievement for the industry that INDABA has succeeded in attracting outstanding attendance during a period in which the effects of the global economic crisis still lingers and when the window to purchase 2010 FIFA World Cup collateral is largely closed.”

This year at the Maldives stand, the main focus was to promote the Maldives for the “New7Wonders of Nature”.

Last year Maldives welcomed a total of 655,852 visitors of which 5,032 visitors are from African countries with a market share of 0.8%.
