Charter operations from South Korea by Korean Air

Male’, 25 April 2010; Room Allot Korea, a well known tour operator to the Maldives from South Korea has started operating a charter flight to the Maldives. The first flight of Korean Air landed at Male’ International Airport this afternoon at 1355 hrs from Seoul Inchoen Airport with 220 passengers. This charter operation will be from 25th April till 4th June 2010. The flight used for this charter operation will be an Airbus A330-300 with a seating capacity of 296 seats and it will operate to Maldives on Sundays, Mondays, Thursday and Fridays directly from Seoul, South Korea to Maldives.

A welcome of traditional dance called “Bodu Beru” was performed at the airport which was organized by the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board.

Most of the Koreans who visit to the Maldives travel by scheduled flights such as Sri Lankan Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines. However, with the operation of this flight to the Maldives, the arrivals from South Korea are expected to increase during the last week of April and for the whole month of May.

This year up till March Maldives welcomed a total of 3,342 Korean visitors with a market share of 1.5% which is a 46.7% increase compared to last year.

The flight handling for Korean Air is done by Sky Tours Pvt. Ltd.
